17Th Session Of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Concludes In Morocco


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RABAT, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- The 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) concluded Saturday in Rabat, Morocco.
Representatives of member states, including Kuwait, non-governmental organizations and stakeholders from 180 countries participated in the meeting.
The session witnessed the inclusion of 47 new items in the UNSECO Intangible Cultural Heritage list submitted by 60 countries divided into four categories, including 39 items in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, in addition to four items in the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices.
The conferees elected Morocco as vice-president of the committee, along with Slovakia, Switzerland, Peru and Bangladesh, while the committee will be chaired by Botswana and the Czech Republic where Eva Kuminkova was elected as the committee's rapporteur for its next session.
The committee on Thursday approved the inclusion of the file of Good Safeguarding Practices submitted by Kuwait represented by Al-Sadu Society. (end)
