Minister Of Finance Receives Visiting Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, Nov 23, 2022, SPA -- The Minister of Finance and Governor of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Asian Infrastructure investment bank (AIIB), Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan received here today AIIB President Jin Liqun, currently on a visit to the Kingdom.
During the meeting, Al-Jadaan praised the efforts being made by the AIIB during many crises, stressing the need for the bank to focus on supporting infrastructure projects in sectors that witness urgent needs, such as energy and food.
He affirmed the importance of strengthening the AIIB's efforts to invest in infrastructure so as to improve regional cooperation and partnership as well as to address development challenges by working in close cooperation with development institutions, stressing the Kingdom's keenness to support these efforts, and to strengthen and expand ways of cooperation.
For his part, AIIB President Jin Liqun expressed his thanks and gratitude for the Kingdom's support for the bank's efforts since its inception, the most recent of which was the Kingdom's provision of $10 million in support for the bank's special financing window concerned with facilitating loans granted to lower-income countries, indicating the keenness of the bank to enhance this cooperation and participate in development projects in the Kingdom in several fields.
It is worth mentioning that the Kingdom is a founding member of the AIIB, which was established in 2015 and began its operations in 2016, and its headquarters is located in the Chinese capital, Beijing.
Also, the AIIB is a multilateral development financing institution that aims to promote economic development and improve infrastructure connectivity in the continent of Asia and beyond by investing in green infrastructure that reflects sustainability and innovation.
