Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia cooperate to build join power grids project


(MENAFN) Iranian energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian has stated that the venture for synchronization of the nation’s electricity networks with Russia, Armenia, in addition to Azerbaijan is currently under building, as reported by Tasnim news agency.

Mehrabian made the comments on Sunday, in the opening ceremony of the 22nd Iran International Electricity Exhibition.

The primary synchronization of power grids among Russia and Iran has been finalized, he stated, also mentioning that technical indications for mutual synchronization of power grids of Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, as well as Iran are being built as well.

“The synchronization and the connection of electricity networks will help stabilize the power network in Iran,” the official asserted.

The Islamic Republic is occupied improving technical industries of the venture, the minister also mentioned.

Mehrabian also declared that the named nations are also negotiating the cooperation of electricity.

“When we require electricity, we can import it from Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan,” he stated, also mentioning that at periods when we have an exceed, we can ship energy to other nations, of course, we are going to carry on to apply the prior years’ contracts.
