Qatar Celebrates Population Day Today

Doha: The State of Qatar will celebrate today Qatar Population Day under the theme“Five years since the implementation of Qatar's Second Population Policy 2017-2022. What has been achieved”

This celebration, organised by the Permanent Population Committee (PPC), aims to clarify the methodology of evaluating the second population policy (2017-2022), show the level of progress in achieving its goals, and raise awareness of population issues and 
their relationship with development.

Members of the Permanent Population Committee, in addition to ministries and bodies concerned with population and development issues, heads and members of working groups charged with following up on the implementation of the population policy programme of action and participants in its preparation, representatives of civil society institutions and bodies concerned with population issues and the United Nations Population Fund will participate in the celebration.

The activities of Qatar Population Day 2022 will be inaugurated by President of the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) and Chairman of the Permanent Population Committee H E Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit. The opening session will be addressed by President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau H E Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, who is the guest of honour, and Representative of the United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA) in the GCC Countries, residing in Muscat, Karl Kulessa.

The first session will honour the people who worked hard and sincerely to achieve the Permanent Population Committee's message“Towards a better life for all who live on the land of Qatar.”

A presentation on the evaluation of Qatar's Second Population Policy 2017-2022 is scheduled to be made in the second session, followed by a general discussion.
