KUWAIT, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Blind Association will celebrate 50 years of supporting and cultivating talents of visually impaired in the country.
Established on October 8, 1972, the association had been promoting the causes of the visually impaired with some 1,000 individuals benefiting from its services via its membership.
The association is supported from the Kuwaiti leadership, government entities, the private sector, as well as civil society organization who provided all sorts of assistance to this sector of society.
Speaking to KUNA on this occasion, head of Public Relations at the Kuwait Blind Association Fahad Al-Enizi affirmed that the association was always keen on meeting the needs of visually impaired individuals.
The association is keen on implementing article 8 of the 2010 law concerning individuals with special needs, which includes the establishment of the Sabah Al-Ahmad visually impaired sports facility in cooperation with the government.
The idea for the facility is in its final stages, affirmed Al-Enizi, revealing that the association has also been cooperating with Al-Kharafi printing press company since 2005 to print a braille version of the Holy Quran.
He noted that the association had been organizing Quran memorization courses, leisure trips to museums and recreational venues to lift the spirits of its members. Also trips abroad for tourism and Ummrah were also organized, Al-Enizi added.
On his part, Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi -- Arabic language student and member in the association since 2020 -- said that he immensely benefited from the services of the blind association.
The association had empowered its members and made everything possible for use, he stressed, saying that they, as visually impaired individuals, were eager to give back to society and sharing in the overall development of Kuwait. (end)
