World Tourism Day Celebrated With Colourful Rally, Festivities

Dhaka : A colourful rally was brought out in the capital on September 27 morning marking World tourism Day 2022. The theme for this year's celebration is 'Rethinking Tourism' - as the country overcomes the adverse effects of Covid-19.
The State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali inaugurated the colourful rally organised by the Bangladesh Tourism Board and a food festival and live cooking show by the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation on the occasion of the World Tourism Day.
Mahbub Ali also spoke as the chief guest at a discussion organised on the occasion of marking the World Tourism Day-2022 at Agargaon Tourism Building in the capital.
The State Minister said that the formulation of the country's tourism master plan will be completed by December 2022. He added that the tourism master plan is being formulated to take forward the country's tourism industry in a planned manner.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury spoke as the guest of honour in the discussion meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation Mokammel Hossain.
Besides, Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Ali Kadar, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation Md Aliullah, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board Abu Tahir Md Jaber and DIG of Tourism Police Ilias Sharif also spoke at the programme.
The Parjatan Corporation declared a 30 per cent discount on its various services, including food festivals, live cooking shows and accommodation in its hotels and motels.
A rickshaw rally was held at the Gulshan-Baridhara Diplomatic Area under the joint initiative of BPC and the Tourist Guide Association on the occasion.
BPC's travel unit also operated three city tours for students and underprivileged people at low cost and free of charge respectively.
To mark the day, a week-long beach carnival till October 3 has been organised to attract more tourists to the world's longest beach in Cox' Bazar by the Cox's Bazar district administration and the Beach Management Committee.
On occasion of the festival, more than 500 hotels, motels, guesthouses, and cottages in the city offered 30-70 per cent discount.
The United Nations World Tourism Organisation has been celebrating September 27 as Tourism Day since 1980 marking the date as the founding day of the organisation.
