AMMAN — In implementation of Royal directives, Royal Court chief Yousef Issawi on Tuesday presented new residences to 19 underprivileged families in the Birbietah and Al Ain Al Bayda areas of Tafileh Governorate.
The residences were established as part of his majesty King Abdullah's directives during his field visits and his meetings with the governorate's dignitaries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Issawi toured the residences, all of which include two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen. One residence in particular was given to a family with a student who excelled in the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi).
Social Development Minister Ayman Mifleh said that the ministry considers several criteria when choosing families for these residences, noting that the process is subject to 'transparent and fair' standards that are accredited by the ministry.
The selection process considers factors such as the number of family members, the presence or lack of a head of household, the family's income, and cases involving disability, he added.
Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Kisbi said that the ministry has implemented all infrastructure for the residences according to the 'highest technical and engineering' standards.
The benefitting families expressed their appreciation for King Abdullah's commitment to providing decent living conditions to Jordan's citizens, and the focus on households suffering from difficult living and economic circumstances.
Also on Tuesday, Issawi, who leads the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, visited the Maan Public Hospital to check on the delivery of a lithotripsy device.
The lithotripsy machine, which conducts operations that utilise electromagnetic waves, will be in use at the hospital, which serves around 170,000 people.
Issawi added that the Royal initiatives, implemented in cooperation with partner institutions under the direct supervision of the Royal Court's follow-up committee, cover several sectors, including social work and health.
