Taliban Foreign Minister Meets Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister In Tashkent

Taliban Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, where the parties emphasized bilateral Kabul-Tashkent cooperation.

According to a statement of the Taliban's Foreign Ministry released on July 30th, in addition to the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan, the Taliban Foreign Minister visited the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister, discussing the economic situation in Afghanistan.

As well as discussing transit, agricultural cooperation, and the beginning of work on the railway connecting Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan were also discussed.

According to the statement, the Uzbek side also pledged to assist Afghanistan in developing its agricultural sector.

The Taliban's Minister of Finance, Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, and Afghanistan's Central Bank Deputy, Noor Ahmad Agha, also attended this meeting, which took place on the sixth day of the Taliban delegation's visit to Tashkent.

An international conference on Afghanistan was held this week in Tashkent by Uzbekistan. The gathering was attended by more than 100 delegations representing around 30 countries, that interacted with the Taliban.

The primary goal of the Tashkent conference, according to the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was to generate a series of policies and recommendations for the measures being used by the international community to support peace, security, and post-conflict reconstruction in Afghanistan.
