Jordan's Telecom Operators 2021 Income At Jd673mln, Up 3Pct Yoy

Amman, June 27 (Petra) -- The total revenue of Jordan three main telecom companies (Zain, Orange, and Umniah) inched up by 3 percent in 2021 to some JD673 million against JD655 million in 2020.
According to a statement issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRG) on Monday, sales of interconnection and communication devices accounted for 12 percent of total income in 2021, a decrease of 26 percent from 2020, and data services accounted for 55 percent of providers' total income with a 13 percent growth. Voice call services accounted for 33 percent of providers' total income with a 2 percent growth.
According to the statement, increased infrastructure spending and frequency license renewals resulted in a 210 percent increase in mobile phone investment from JD83 million in 2020 to JD257 million in 2021.
Fixed telecom sector investment in 2021 reached JD40 million, signaling a growth of 9 percent, according to figures.
