KABUL (Pajhwok): Kabul has welcomed New Delhi's decision on relaxing fumigation rules for agricultural imports from Afghanistan.

Ambassador Farid Mamundzay, commenting on the decision, hoped on Wednesday the move would help ease trade between the two nations.

“Appreciate Indian Ministry of Agriculture's decision to relax the fumigation regulations for imports of agricultural commodities until May 2023,” he tweeted.

Mamundzay wrote Afghan traders had repeatedly demanded the relaxation, which would go a long way in facilitating bilateral trade.

The diplomat added:“The move will also benefit struggling Afghan farmers to sell/export their products to a reliable market.

Earlier, the Indian government softened fumigation regulations for the import of agricultural products from Afghanistan. Under the order, consignments arriving in India till May 2023 will be exempted from fumigation treatment.
