Erdogan: No agreement for NATO expansion could deteriorate Turkiye or association


(MENAFN) Turkiye, as a NATO member, is not going to confirm to any expansion that could cautions the military alliance safety, or damage its own safety, according to the Turkish leader, pointing out its worries over Finland and Sweden’s force for NATO participation in the Ukraine conflict.

Erdogan updated the parliamentary group conference of Turkiye’s Justice and Development (AK) Party in Ankara "We expect our allies to understand our sensitivities (on counter-terror efforts), to show respect and to provide support if possible."

He also declared "We are one of the top countries that actively support the activities of the (NATO) alliance, but this does not mean we will agree to every proposal without question," noting that NATO expansion can be done if Turkiye’s compassions are valued.

Erdogan further underscored that Turkiye need to defend its frontiers from terror factions.
