GASTAT: Yearly inflation in Saudi Arabia surges


(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia’s yearly increased rate surged to reach 2.3 percent within the last month, up from 2 percent two months ago, as reported by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

The consumer price index of last month of this year has rose 2 percent in comparison to the same duration in 2021, boosted by an increase in food and beverages costs, in addition to transport.

Food and beverages costs rose by 4.3 percent because of a surge in meat costs by 3.5 percent as well as vegetable costs by 13.5 percent. Meanwhile, transport costs spiked 4.6 percent owning to a climb in gas costs by 9.5 percent with an increase in automobile costs by almost 4.1 percent.

Private products and services costs went up by 2.8 percent, primarily due to a rise in costs of few accessories; jewelry and watches.
