German Christian Democrats succeed in state votes in North Rhine-Westphalia

(MENAFN) The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) succeeded in the votes in the west German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in line with issued forecasts on late Sunday by German public newscasters ARD and ZDF.

Yet, the preceding presiding CDU/FDP (Free Democrats) alliance is no longer a mainstream.

According to the newest statistics, the FDP and far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) must be concerned regarding re-entering the state assembly in Dusseldorf.

As in the previous lawmaking term, the fundamental leftist group The Left is not going to be in the state parliament.

Based on the figures from ARD and ZDF, the CDU stood at 35 percent, then the Social Democratic Party (SPD) with 27.5-28 percent, while the pro-environment Greens took the third place with 18-18.5 percent.
