Dubai, UAE: This Ramadan, Gulf for Good , a UAE-registered non-profit organisation, announced Fund-a-Farm for the Sparkle Foundation in Malawii. The campaign invites the UAE community to donate 'virtual farm produce' to provide the funds for the full farm in terms of getting it set up and running. Once completed this farm will provide enough food daily for the 300 children supported by the Sparkle Foundation in Malawi. To date, the initiative has already seen great success raising nearly AED 80,000. Everyone is encouraged to contribute at YallaGive.com where donations are being collected to help meet the AED 100,000 target.

The Ramadan campaign invites the UAE to reflect and embrace the spirit of Ramadan through charitable giving. The Holy month for those who observe it is all about the humbling endeavour of gaining perspective on human sufferings through the act of fasting from sunrise to sunset. Such empathy is a concept that is synonymous with Gulf for Good's ethos and is reflected in the Fund-A-Farm initiative this Ramadan. Each donation received will support the children as follows: a donation of AED 100 will go towards 10 kg of maize seeds which harvest around 20 bags of maize and will feed 300 children one meal a day, a donation of AED 200 will supply 32 kg worth of soya seed that provides 600 kg of soya porridge and will feed the children breakfast daily, an AED 300 contribution will provide enough vegetables to be grown to give the children at least once a week, an AED 500 donation buys 50 chickens and provides the children with eggs once a week, and finally AED 1,000 buys eight goats and supplies enough milk for the children once a week.

Gulf for Good's Chairwoman Anne Edmondson explains,“Malawi is the fourth poorest country in the world and the Sparkle Foundation's work includes providing food for the 300 vulnerable children in their care, every day. Our key project for the year is to Fund-A-Farm for them, which will help them to reduce their operating costs and enable them to grow their own food. We aim to raise 100,000 AED to complete this project. To fulfil our promise, we are also coordinating our efforts with our sister social enterprise Thrift for Good, which was established in February 2020 with a mission to rehome preloved clothing items to reduce waste and help children around the world. Its flagship store is in the Galleria Mall on the Palm. In November 2021 a second store was opened in Times Square”.

The initiative continues Gulf for Good's vision to empower people to change their lives and the lives of children around the world. And it is a deed that will not only change the lives of Malawian children and their community but is spiritually rewarding for the contributor, knowing that they have had a positive part in affecting change. Every child has the right to a happy and sustainable life.
