BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan established Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.

The official opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.

“I am convinced that the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund will become an effective platform for the implementation of mutually beneficial investment projects, will make a great contribution to strengthening direct ties between business entities, and will also contribute to the opening of new joint ventures,” Japarov said.

The chairman noted that Uzbekistan is one of the key trade and economic partners of Kyrgyzstan.

“Today, projects for the construction of logistics centers near the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border are in the active phase of implementation. Particular attention is paid to the construction and launch of a trade and logistics center in the city of Kyzyl-Kiya (Kyrgyzstan), linking the Fergana (Uzbekistan) and Batken (Kyrgyzstan) regions. I am sure that the launch of this trade and logistics center will give a powerful impetus to the development of export-import operations between our countries,” Japarov said.

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, in turn, noted that the government of Uzbekistan attaches priority to cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
