U.S. sees no signs of Putin's readiness to stop war in Ukraine - State Department

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The United States continues to support Ukraine's diplomatic efforts to end Russia's war, but it sees no signs of Putin's willingness to stop Russian aggression.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said this at a briefing on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

'As we have done since the beginning of this crisis, we will continue to support Ukraine's efforts to de-escalate through diplomacy in order to secure a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russia's troops from Ukraine,' Price said.

He stressed that diplomacy requires both sides to genuinely engage in good faith.

'But President Putin has made no indication that he is prepared to stop the onslaught,' Price said.

At the same time, he stressed that whenever and however this war ends, 'the United States and the international community will, together with our partners in Ukraine, ensure that Putin's war of choice is a long-term strategic failure for the Kremlin.'

Ukraine and Russia are currently holding talks in various formats. Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, said that the position of the Ukrainian delegation in the talks remains unchanged: a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Russian troops and strict security guarantees.
