BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 21. Georgian Government
and the German Development Bank (KfW) are working jointly on the
next steps of the green hydrogen project development in Georgia,
German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development
told Trend .
According to the Ministry, the current research is focused on a
more in-depth study on a potential green hydrogen pilot
project.
Green hydrogen is a relatively new topic for Georgia, and the
development and deployment of this energy carrier will take time,
the source noted.
'Germany is one of the most important donors in the Georgian
energy sector and has been cooperating with Georgia in this field
for more than 20 years. As a result, Georgia is now a full member
of the European Energy Union,' the Ministry said.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development
will continue to support Georgia on its way towards a green
economy, the source added.
Meanwhile, the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable
Development and the KfW signed a declaration on the study of green
hydrogen potential in Georgia on November 5, 2021.
The implementation of this project will provide benefits to the
economy and, consequently, will help attract investment to the
country to develop clean and renewable energy.
