AMMAN — In implementation of Royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Thursday announced the launch of multiple development initiatives in Zarqa.
The Royal initiatives include the construction of 100 housing units for underprivileged families and the construction of a factory in Azraq district. The factory will be constructed under the Productive Branches Initiative and will provide 200 to 400 job opportunities for people in the area.
The initiatives also include the construction of two schools in the Al Hashmieh and Al Dulail regions, in addition to the rehabilitation of Wadi Al Issh's industrial zone, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During a meeting with a number of Zarqa dignitaries and representatives of youth and women's activities, Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, stressed that the projects will be implemented in coordination with the relevant government bodies and partner agencies.
The central region will also have initiatives in various sectors in the future, according to the needs and the priorities of each region, he added.
His Majesty stressed that the true challenge is related to combating poverty and unemployment, Issawi said, reiterating that the King always seeks to provide a decent standard of living for Jordanians.
He heard the most pressing needs and demands of the people of Zarqa, in a bid to consider their implementation depending on available resources. He highlighted that these meetings come under the direct directives of His Majesty King Abdullah.
Replying to the demands, Issawi said that all the requests will be referred to His Majesty and followed up with in cooperation with government stakeholders.
The Royal Initiative for Housing was launched in 2005 to secure decent housing and a stable life for underprivileged families across the Kingdom in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah's pledges during his meetings with dignitaries and public figures from the various governorates.
Launched in 2008, the Productive Branches Initiative focuses on the establishment of productive branches for mega-factories and companies in villages and governorates, to ease Jordanian youth's access to workplaces and training programmes.
