São Paulo – The Embassy of Brazil in the United Arab Emirates has prepared a guide for Brazilians who will watch the FIFA Club World Cup , which will take place from February 3 to 12 in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the Arab country. Brazil's Palmeiras will compete in the tournament, and the expectation is for thousands of its supporters to come to watch the matches in the stadiums of the emirate.

The guide brings a series of practical and valuable information for those who will travel, from specific procedures for entering the country due to COVID-19 restrictions to tips on transportation and legislation.“The idea was to contribute with initial directions for Brazilians who will come here to the UAE, specifically to Abu Dhabi,” said the minister-counselor at the embassy, Leandro Vieira Silva, to ANBA.

The idea for the guide came from Glauco Iervolino, a Brazilian living in the UAE who contacted the embassy to make a suggestion, inspired by the material prepared by Brazilian diplomacy for the final of the Copa Libertadores da América in Uruguay last year. The guide was designed by the consular team of the Embassy of Brazil to Abu Dhabi with the coordination of minister-counselor Silva.

The handbook has the first part with relevant information before leaving Brazil, such as visa requirements, flights, language, local outlet voltage, driving permits, accepted payment forms, and currencies in the Arab country. The second part concerns COVID-19 testing and vaccine requirements, related apps, health insurance, and quarantine to enter the UAE and stadiums.

The guide also has information on transportation options between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and some local laws, including alcohol consumption and social behavior. The document also contains guidelines for possible issues during the stay, such as infection by COVID-19 or loss of passport. Diplomat Silva suggests fans follow possible updates from the country on requirements related to the coronavirus pandemic.

“From the information I read in the Brazilian press, there is great enthusiasm on behalf of Palmeiras fans to honor the team in another FIFA Club World Cup, so we expect a significant influx of tourists here,” said the minister-counselor. In addition to watching the matches, he believes Brazilians will tour around the UAE and suggests visiting Expo 2020 Dubai, which has a Brazil pavilion and runs until the end of March.
