UAE discloses fresh plan to support sustainable power schemes in Africa

(MENAFN) The UAE is taking a program to financially back sustainable power ventures in Africa in order to aid African nations in living up to their environmentally-friendly power needs and hasten their economic advancement.

On Tuesday, the UAE Media Office tweeted that the "Etihad 7” program will guarantee financial support for sustainable power plans in Africa and seeks to offer clean electricity to 100 million individuals on the continent before 2035.

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, mentioned in a report posted on the site of the ministry: “Our two regions are inextricably linked, with enormous potential for further co-operation in the years to come.”

He added, “One of the keys to unlocking that potential, supercharging Africa’s economies, and allowing millions of people to contribute to building a prosperous continent is electricity–specifically, renewable energy.”
