Mirwais Ashraf appointed as chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board

Members of the Afghanistan Cricket Board held their annual meeting on Monday, January 17, 2022, and unanimously voted for acting chairman Mirwais Ashraf and was appointed as official chairman.

Along with the voting for Mirwais Ashraf, the meeting also discussed the annual budget and future plans of the ACB.

Speaking at the annual meeting, Mirwais Ashraf said that this is the first time that members of the board have been selected professionally and balanced.

Mirwais Ashraf added that the board is comprised of former cricketers, national traders, and those who have closely monitored and seen the progress of Afghanistan cricket throughout the years.

Mirwais Ashraf is a former Afghan all-rounder who was replaced with Azizullah Fazli by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

This is the first time that a cricketer is leading Afghanistan Cricket Board.
