UN Libya consultant plans ‘fruitful’ discussions in Ankara


(MENAFN) The UN secretary-general's special consultant on Libya stated that she had “fruitful” discussions with Turkish officials on what recently happened in Libya.

Stephanie Williams discussed with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal and Special Envoy Can Dizdar in Ankara.

Williams declared “We compared notes on Political developments in Libya, the electoral process and options for the way forward.”

The UN representative said that the officials agreed in the meetings “on the importance of a coherent and inclusive regional and international support to Libya which builds on progress of the ongoing intra-Libyan dialogue.”

She also stated that they “stressed the need to reinforce the spirit of compromise among Libyan actors for the collective good of the country.”
