Belgian employees march to the streets to demonstrate against inflation

(MENAFN) On Monday thousands of employees in Belgium's capital marched to the streets to demonstrate against inflation and a law controlling salary increases.

Employees from all over the nation collected in front of Northern Train Station in Brussels and took to the Central Station.

The protestors, wearing green and red hats, masks, as well as coats, protested the large streets traffic congestion with banners of their unions, demonstrating the 1996 law that inhibits employees' salaries from raising by over a particular percentage.

Since the law, referred to as the "96 law," fixed the maximum rate of raise as 0.4 percent, bosses cannot raise salaries above this boundary.
