Doha: Qatar's hospitality sector is set to see a surge in guest arrivals in the coming months driven by increase in the economic activity in the country.

The hospitality sector is expected to return to pre-pandemic levels, in terms of business, by July-August next year helped by a consistent decline on COVID-19 cases, onset of a busy winter season and activities related to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, said a senior official of Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Doha.

“The country has done an amazing job of controlling the cases of infections, pushing for vaccinations, promoting the public awareness. The authorities in Qatar have managed the pandemic very well,” Yazan Latif, General Manager, Sharq Village & Spa told The Peninsula during a media round table held recently.

He expects the recovery curve in the hospitality sector would only move up and said the hotels may see their business reach pre-pandemic levels by July-August next year. “The curve will be going up, the curve is moving from horizontal to vertical and it is going to go further up in future. Every month the situation is going to be better. We have a good spectrum of guests and we are receiving guests from across the world and not just from one region” added Latif.

The multiple award-winning hotel Sharq Village & Spa will offer a unique chance of experiencing Qatari luxury experience. Latif highlighted the outstanding features of the hotel which ensure the guests have a memorable stay.

He added that the hotel is a haven for outdoor dining experiences, ranging from 'Layali Kebab Night' to 'Fish Market' hosted at a picturesque location, by the sea every weekend.

A sumptuous buffet-style of service, with health & safety requirements firmly in place, the menus are a perfect blend of hot & cold appetizers, salads, meat dishes, 'make your own' fish dish and other 'live' station style food selections.

Guests can choose to dig feet in the cool sand while they dine at the beach or right next to it, with two seating options available.

The hotel also offers its guest a chance to experience 'Bedouin' cooking. A traditional form of 'Bedouin' cooking also known as 'slow cooking', Zarb ovens have been a part of the Middle East region and are traditionally dug into the earth, which is what provides the natural induction for the cooking process. This dish is prepared with meat, rice and spices for an average of 6 hours or more and is served as a sharing platter.

“Patrons can enjoy this quintessentially Arabian experience at our private beach, with exquisite seating and unparalleled views of the city skyline beyond,” said Latif.

Sharq Village & Spa boasts of a Presidential Suite like none other in the city. Designed like a Sheikh's Palace, with architectural inspiration taken from Qatari heritage structures in the city, the Royal Villa is guests' 'home away from home'.

Royal Villa spans two-storey of grandeur with two adjoining villas, connected by a footbridge. The first villa houses the residential and lifestyle elements like rooms, suites, dining room, majlis and study. The second villa houses recreational elements like the stunning private pool with a waterfall, gymnasium, spa, steam and sauna rooms and chefs pantry.

Royal Villa has won World Travel Awards 2021 in several categories including, Middle East's Leading Luxury Villa, Qatar's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa and Qatar's Leading Conference Hotel.

Sharq Village & Spa Hotel is the ideal venue to host intimate or grand, traditional or contemporary and truly custom-made weddings and social events. With two unique outdoor venues – Al Dana Garden accommodating larger capacities and The Glasshouse, accommodating more intimate events, both offering unobstructed views of the Doha skyline, guests can truly live their dream wedding here with us.

Guests can discover a sensory experience of well-being within 6500sqm of our traditional Qatari village-inspired Spa at Sharq Village. The Spa at Sharq Village is truly a remarkable wellness haven.

“Known for a 360-degree approach to wellbeing, guests can take advantage not only from the award-winning spa therapies and physical fitness activities but also benefit from 'Movement of the Mind' sessions and emotional wellbeing classes, offered by Brain Education Middle East,” said Latif.

The 'signature' Moroccan Hammam at the Spa is offered in stunning private rooms, fitted with bathtubs, steam and sauna and plunge pools to truly leave your skin feeling baby soft and rejuvenated.

“We are proud to be introducing – 'Teens Spa' which is a program introducing facials, manicures & pedicures and other pamper sessions that are safe and specially formulated to suit the skin type of teens,” said Latif.

“As a wellness destination, we always push the envelope to make 'wellbeing' a lifestyle choice and so as to not make this activity seem like a chore, we activate our classes in fun and nature-interactive locations like the resort gardens, beach, by the poolside and in the pool as well,” he added.

The hotel also boasts of Doha's trendiest lounge – Iris. Having a whole vibe of its own, Iris brings a little bit of every genre – R&B and Soul Nights every Tuesday, Sunset Sessions, every evening and the very popular Iris Brunch, every Friday.
