Malaysian-flagged vessel confiscated by Indonesia in Malacca Strait

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Sep. 29 the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries stated that it has confiscated an illicit Malaysian-flagged fishing vessel in Indonesia’s waters in the Malacca Strait.

It noted that the captain and all the four crew members involved are Indonesians.

The vessel was seized on Sunday while poaching with banned trawler, according to the ministry's Director-General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Supervision, Adin Nurawaluddin.

Figures demonstrated that since the first month of the year, Indonesia’s ministry has confiscated 48 foreign-flagged vessels unlawfully fishing in Indonesian waters.
