China: Passenger ship overturns, leaves 12 dead in Guizhou


(MENAFN) Local authorities stated that twelve people have been killed whereas three others are still missing as of Tuesday, after a passenger ship overturned in a river in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sept. 18.

The incident occurred at 4:50 p.m. on Sept. 18 in Zangke River in Zangke Township found in the city of Liupanshui.

The ship, which had a capacity of 40 persons, was overfull when the accident took place.

An overall of 214 rescuers, over 50 rescue ships, and more than 50 fire trucks and ambulances have been sent to the scene.
