Celebrating Space Education and Communication - World Space Week 2021


(MENAFN- Mid-East.Info) MAPP Education with support from Orbital Space announced the celebrations of World Space Week 2021 with a series of educational and inspirational activities aimed at youth, educators, parents, and space enthusiasts in the GCC and the world. MAPP Education is  joining others in over 90 countries around the world to celebrate this year with the theme 'Women in space'.

“World Space Week connects our communities and gives our youth access to exciting events and information from our region and the world. This year’s theme is an inspiring call to women from our region to share their knowledge and skills and to support the new generations of women who aspire to careers in the space sector.” Nada Alshammari – General Manager of MAPP Education. This coming World Space Week we are announcing exciting educational opportunities including the International Residential Space Camp – STARS CAMP 2022 to be held in the United States. 

“Our mission is to make space accessible to everyone and we are continuing to highlight the importance of space by providing access through a variety of space missions and educational activities,” Said Bassam Alfeeli, General Manager of Orbital Space,“Similar to MAPP Education we also have some exciting announcement which is the first private moon mission from the Arab region.  The objective of the mission has not been defined yet but it will be made as a competition open to students around the world to propose ideas for the“Experiment on the Moon”.  

Overview of Space Week Activities

The celebrations consist of conversations with leading women in the space sector, addressing topics like diversity and inclusion, and guidance and advice to young women intent on a career path in the space industry. The week will also highlight the critical place for space science communication, and share resources with educators on space education for emerging nations. Students will be invited to connect with the winner of the UNOOSA 'Space4Youth' competition, and will be given the opportunity to take part in two exciting workshops on Satellite Technology and CubeSat Mission.

The largest space event on Earth, UN-declared World Space Week is celebrated October 4-10 annually.  It is an international celebration of the contribution of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.
