Somalia: Halted assault leaves 41 dead in Galmudug

(MENAFN) A number of 41 al-Shabab rebels died and several others were wounded in a suicide car bomb assault at a town in Galmudug, a regional state in central Somalia, stated Somali National Army (SNA) on Sunday, Jun. 27.

Three SNA soldiers and five from Galmudug's regional paramilitary forces (Darwish) died in the assault close to a security camp in Wisil which is one of the most secure towns in Galmudug State, the SNA commander said to state-owned television.

A number of the citizens and soldiers injured in the clash were sent to Mogadishu for medical care, noted the military.

The Somali administration deeply denounced Sunday's terror assault by al-Shabab and expressed its condolences to the families of the victims killed by the terrorists.
