Nigeria: College halts academic activities over shooters assault

(MENAFN) On Friday, Jun. 11, after an assault by unidentified shooters on the institution late Thursday, a polytechnic in northwest Nigeria halted academic activities until further notice.

Local officials stated that one student as a minimum was killed, while another was wounded, and another 10, comprising teachers were abducted at the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in the town of Zaria in the northwestern state of Kaduna.

Mahmud Kwarbai, spokesperson for the polytechnic, stated in a report: "students have been directed to vacate the institution immediately."

Kwarbai noted that the assault had provoked severe tension amongst the students, thus the unspecified halt of academic activities at the institution.
