China: Industrial production increases 9.8 percent


(MENAFN)Statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed on Monday, May 17, that China's value-added industrial production, an important financial indicator, augmented 9.8 percent year on year in April as factory activities continued to pick up.

The number increased 14.1 percent from the level seen in 2019, taking the average development for the last two years to 6.8 percent, NBS statistics reveal.

In the first four months, industrial production increased 20.3 percent year on year, resulting in an average two-year expansion of 7 percent.

Industrial production is used to measure the activity of assigned large enterprises with yearly business turnovers of no less than 20 million yuan (about USD3.11 million).
