Qatar- Around 1,000 vehicles seized for traffic violations during Ramadan


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Around 1,000 vehicles have been seized by the General Directorate of Traffic since the drive started at the beginning of Ramadan, as part of its plan aimed at controlling traffic violations. 

The Department has referred the violating motorists to the competent authorities for further legal action against them. The campaign focuses on traffic violations such as drifting, reckless driving, over-speeding, car racing, creating loud noise among others. The General Directorate of Traffic, represented by the Investigation and Patrols Section will continue its inspection campaign to control serious traffic violations and to enhance safety requirements on roads.

Speaking in this regard, Captain Mohammed Safar Al Kuwari, the Investigation Officer said the campaign was launched from the first day of Ramadan and will continue until its end. 'It is aimed to reduce the most dangerous traffic violations that used to be committed by some motorists during Ramadan.

The campaign includes all areas of the country, and civilian and military patrols are taking part in it in order to monitor and control traffic violations and receive reports around the clock.  In addition to their routine work in regulating traffic, civilian and military patrols also make sure that road users apply all the precautionary measures approved by the relevant authorities in the State to limit the spread of coronavirus, including adhering to the number of passengers allowed inside the vehicle, and installing Ehteraz application.
Captain Mohammed Safar Al Kuwari called on all motorists to adhere to traffic rules, and to take more caution, especially in residential areas, and stay away from wrong traffic behaviors that negatively affect public safety.
