Lebanon asks Syria for cooperation on maritime differentiation

(MENAFN) Caretaker Lebanese Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe on Tuesday, April 13, handed an official demand to Syria for talks on maritime borders differentiation between the two sides.

Lebanon's National News Agency revealed that the memorandum, which was handed to Syrian diplomat to Lebanon Ali Abdel-Karim Ali, proved Lebanon's position on the demarcation of its territorial waters and called on the Syrian authorities to talk demarcation on the basis of brotherly relations and the global maritime laws.

Following his gathering with Wehbe, Ali promised to express "the desire of the leadership of Lebanon to negotiate all common issues between the two countries including the demarcation of maritime borders."

"Syria always welcomes any coordination between the two countries," he added.
