Russia spends USD100m to expand boat for Arctic survey


(MENAFN)The press office for the Cabinet of Ministers declared on Friday, April 2, Russian authorities will fund building of a hydrographic boat to carry out surveys alongside the Northern Sea Route in Russia’s Arctic.

The cabinet stated in a report “More than seven billion rubles [USD92 million] will be invested in the construction of the lead hydrographic vessel aimed at operating in the waters of the Northern Sea Route (NSR)”.

The new vessel, which is anticipated to come into operation in 2024, will be brought into service to fulfill demand for hydrographic support from the drillers and other firms that carry out the icey Arctic seas.
