Afghanistan: Gun fight leaves 11 dead in northern Kunduz


(MENAFN) According to an army officer Abdul Razaq, on Thursday, Mar. 4 an overall of 11 fighters comprising five security staff and six militants have been killed as a battle erupted in the suburb of Kunduz city the capital of northern Kunduz province.

The fight broke out after the Taliban fighters assaulted security checkpoints in Talawka village outside Kunduz city on Thursday morning and so five security staff and six rebels were confirmed dead.

The official further said that eight more fighters comprising three security staff and five more militants had been wounded in the gun battle that went on for a while.

The gun battle was as well affirmed by provincial administration spokesperson Esmatullah Muradi by saying "both sides have suffered" in the clash.
