Qatar- Dar Al Sharq's 8th Social Responsibility Conference to honour pandemic heroes


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Dar Al Sharq will hold 8th Social Responsibility conference and Award on April 6. The decision was made by the Social Responsibility Committee of Dar Al Sharq during a meeting of the committee chaired by  Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali bin Saud Al Thani.

This year's award is dedicated to honour government figures, private institutions and individuals who have played a prominent role in the battle against COVID-19 pandemic during 2020. The Social Responsibility Committee has set criteria for selecting the people and institutions that worked during the crisis of pandemic to honour them during a ceremony which will be hosted by Katara on April 6.

The White Book will also be launched. The book will contain reports and research on how Qatari institutions in the government and private sectors faced challenges imposed by the pandemic. In addition, morning sessions will he held dealing with themes on the efforts made to address the pandemic and the successful experiences in this regard.

Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman of the Committee, said: 'Our committee works to highlight the societal role that government and private institutions have played in dealing with pandemic by protecting their workers and employees or protecting society from the spread of COVID-19 infection.

He said it was important to highlight these efforts and honour the people who stand behind the efforts to curb the pandemic. Dr. Muhammad Saif Al Kuwari, a member of the committee, pointed out that the honouring ceremony was a unique event in itself to encourage institutions to exert more efforts to address this pandemic.

The Cultural Village Foundation Katara welcomed the hosting of the 8th Conference on Social Responsibility and has dedicated a hall and an open place to organise the conference and distribute awards for social responsibility.

Jaber Salem Al Harami, Deputy CEO of Dar Al Sharq Group, commented: 'Organising this event in Katara will give it an additional momentum, as Katara is the home of culture and sophistication in the State of Qatar.

He pointed out that this year's conference will also be live streamed on social media platforms, and will host local and international personalities through the Zoom app. He stressed that Dar Al Sharq will harness all its capabilities for the success of the conference and support the efforts of the Social Responsibility Committee.

On the other hand, within the framework of the committee's work to establish and spread concepts of social responsibility, two seminars will be launched on the Zoom app. The first one will be a panel discussion on ‘Social Responsibility and Sports' while the second one will on the topic of ‘Empowering Women and Social Responsibility'.

The seminars, which will take place during the months of February and March respectively, will host distinguished speakers to shed light on these important issues from the perspective of social responsibility.
