Jordan- January saw 'significant' drop in spread of rumors-monitor


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 31 (Petra) - The rumors spread during January witnessed a "significant" drop, compared to last December, the Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor, Akeed, said.
During January, 37 rumors were recorded, compared to 44 in December, announced the media monitor.
In its report issued on Sunday, the monitor indicated that the 10 economic rumors, which were circulated during January, topped the list, while 8 political and security rumors were registered, followed by 6 social rumors, during the same month.
35 rumors spread online came from internal sources, while two rumors originated externally, the report showed.
Regarding the source breakdown, 24 rumors emerged online, 22 of which originated in local media outlets, while two fake items came from social platforms outside Jordan, Akeed said.
