Afghanistan: Taliban attacks leave 4 people dead in 2 provinces


(MENAFN) According to local police, on Sunday, Jan. 31 four civilians lost their lives and another 14 were injured by Taliban militants in two northern Afghan provinces.

Provincial police spokesperson Karim Urish said to Xinhua that two citizens lost their lives and 14 were injured after militants shot two mortar shells in the direction of administration offices in Almar region of Faryab province at the middle of the day on Sunday.

According to the police official, the injured were moved to a hospital in the region, in the west of Maimana, further saying that a number of stores were as well damaged by the shrapnel.

In Takhar province, two citizens in a vehicle were shot dead after they overlooked Taliban's sign to stop their car in a Taliban checkpoint down a provincial highway in Bangi region early on Sunday.
