Suicide bombing kills 14 security men in E. Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- At least 14 security personnel were killed and four others were injured in a suicide car bombing that took place on a security base in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday.
Nangarhar deputy chairman of the provincial council Ajmal Omar in a statement to the media said that the bombing was carried out through a Humvee and another tank was captured by the security personnel.
He confirmed that 14 Public Order Police (POP) personnel were killed and four others injured in.
The governor house's media office also confirmed the bombing, which took place in the Gandumak area of Sherzad district. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
The attack comes at a time when Afghanistan and Taliban have agreed on procedural rules for the intra-Afghan peace negotiations in Doha, Qatar that were stalled over differences on ground rules for the talks. (end)
