Hong Kong stops import of poultry goods from bird flu-impacted regions in Germany, Italy


(MENAFN)Hong Kong's food safety authority settled on Wednesday, January 27, to stop the import of poultry meat and goods from bird flu-affected regions in Germany and Italy.

The Center for Food Safety (CFS) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department stated that this was in outlook of notifications from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) about outbursts of highly pathogenic H5N8 avian influenza in the District of Prignitz, State of Brandenburg in Germany, and Province of Ravenna, Region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy.

The CFS has informed the trade to stop the import of poultry meat and products, counting poultry eggs, from these regions with instant effect to look after public health in Hong Kong.
