After 3-year halt, Egypt to resume diplomatic relations with Qatar

(MENAFN) The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Egypt and Qatar decided on Wednesday to re-enhance political relations following at least three years of suspension.

According to the statement, "Egypt and Qatar have exchanged two official notes, according to which the two countries agreed to resume diplomatic relations."

It further noted that the decision has been reached based on the mutual duties of the Al-Ula declaration that has been inked at the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Saudi Arabia.

The Al-Ula agreement ended a boycott on Qatar by the Arab quartet, which includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
