(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The UAE Fatwa Council's Chairman, Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, has received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. He joins the long list of royals and officials who have received the coronavirus vaccine.
He hailed the UAE leadership's 'exceptional response to dealing with the Covid-19 crisis.
He said the UAE is among the first countries to provide the vaccine to citizens and residents. He also appreciated the UAE's efforts to helping other countries beat the pandemic.
The UAE Fatwa Council has earlier issued a 'Fatwa' (Islamic ruling), allowing the coronavirus vaccines' use . It said the vaccines are in compliance with Islamic Sharia's objectives on the protection of the human body and other relevant rulings.
It came in response to growing concerns among Muslims over the halal status of the Covid vaccines and following a request for an advisory opinion addressed by the Minister of Religious Affairs of Malaysia to the UAE Fatwa Council.
