22 people killed, 50 others injured in Aden airport attack


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Minister of Interior Ibrahim Haidan has announced that 22 people lost their lives and 50 others were wounded in Wednesday's attack on the Aden International Airport.
In statements to the Yemeni news agency (Saba), the minister said that efforts are exerted in coordination with the Saudi-led pro-legitimacy coalition to unveil the circumstances of the incident.
"The only side benefiting from this attack is the Iran-backed Houthi rebels," said the minister.
He vowed that this attack will not impede the implementation of (the power-sharing Riyadh Agreement).
He underlined that the government is keen on carrying out its duties to provide Yemeni people with basic services and preserving security and stability.
The International Committee of the Red Cross in Yemen announced that one of their staff members was killed on Wednesday when the airport in Aden was attacked.
Two of its staff were unaccounted for and three were injured, it added.
Earlier, Aden International Airport was attacked with shelling and explosions were seen which coincided with the arrival of the Yemeni government to exercise its duties in Aden in accordance with the (Riyadh Agreement). (end)
