Tunisia envoy praises Qatar's great achievements in all levels

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Ambassador of Tunisia to Qatar Sami Saidi praised the great progress made by Qatar at all levels, emphasising that its achievements have become a source of pride for all Arabs and Muslims.
In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the envoy said that Qatar's achievements are attested to by far and wide, as Qatar has invested in building people, as well as that it has an effective and influential diplomatic presence on the regional and international arenas, and its foundations include successful mediation in international crises, a policy of support for development in less fortunate countries and a response to the increasing humanitarian needs in the world. The ambassador stressed that Qatar's celebration of National Day represents an opportunity to evoke the process of development and modernisation that was established by His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and led by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
On this occasion, the envoy praised the development witnessed by the Qatari-Tunisian relations, and said that they are exceptional and distinctive relations and are unique in their high pace of consultation, co-operation and exchange of visits, as the current year witnessed, the first visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Tunisia in February and the second visit of President of Tunisia Kais Saied to Doha in November.
He noted that this confirms Qatar's commitment to support Tunisia and Tunisia's keenness on its part to upgrade these relations to the level of solidarity partnership. He indicated that Tunisia hopes that the Tunisian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee, which will be held in Doha during the first quarter of 2021, will contribute to opening new horizons for bilateral co-operation in all fields. Ambassador Saidi also noted the active involvement of the Qatari private sector in this movement witnessed by the relations of the two brotherly countries through large investments in several sectors such as tourism, banking, telecommunications and others, which made Qatar rank second in the world in terms of foreign investments in Tunisia.
The success of these completed projects also encourages more Qatari companies to invest in Tunisia and expand their activities to include new sectors such as renewable energies, services, and others, he added.
He the praised Qatar's exceptional response to dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, as its approach succeeded in limiting the spread of the pandemic without resorting to a lockdown and by relying on deliberate interim approaches. He explained that Qatar's health system, which is one of the most powerful health systems in the world thanks to the strong investment of the state, played a decisive role in controlling the spread of the pandemic, which succeeded in making Qatar lead the lowest death rate in the world.
The ambassador valued the assistance provided by Qatar to support many countries in the efforts to confront Covid-19 and said that Qatar did not hesitate to help brotherly countries in an unprecedented extension of solidarity, as Qatari medical aid reached more than 80 countries, including Tunisia, as well as allocating funds to support the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi), WHO, and multilateral healthcare institutions working to develop vaccines.
