Iran sets news record for stored natural gas in 7 months

(MENAFN) The managing director of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) said in a statement that the national volume of natural gas contained in the country"s storage facilities has been 2.87 billion cubic meters (bcm) during the period between January and July of the current Iranian calendar year (20 March).

Ramin Hatami was quoted by Shana news agency as saying: "This year, 1.856 million cubic meters of gas has been injected into Shourijeh storage, while 1.014 billion cubic meters has also been injected into Sarajeh storage, which is a new record."

As per the official, the rate rose 28 percent in the current year compared to the same period last year which is a sign of the firm's ability to sustainably produce natural gas during the winter months to the northern and northeastern regions.

In the meantime, according to Hatami, the expansion and growth of the national gas system and rising fuel usage in the country have massively increased the significance of storage sites.
