(MENAFN) The combined record of patients who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the worst-hit Brazil has reached 5,535,605 as of the past 24 hours ending on Sunday, whereas the national tally of lives that have been claimed due to the pandemic of the most infectious virus amounted to 159,884 all over the Latin American State.
Based on the Brazilian Health Ministry, a number of 18,947 more people were diagnosed with the coronavirus over the stated period, with 407 new patients were said to have succumbed to the disease.
The overwhelm majority of Brazil"s total cases were reported in its southeast state of Sao Paulo which included 1,120,000 infections and 39,311 deaths.
Brazil ranks the second after the United States with the hugest number of COVID-19 deaths among the whole world"s states.
