(MENAFN- Khaama Press) KABUL, Afghanistan – The Khaama Press news agency on Wednesday celebrated its 10th anniversary at Kabul Serena hotel, hosting government officials and civil society activists, including journalists and media representatives.
The event coincides with Khaama Press ranking first place in terms of readership and audience, topping among hundreds of local media outlets in Afghanistan.

Fatima Hashim, Managing Director of Khaama Press, thanked all its staff for accompanying them on this difficult, yet, vital journey of the agency for a decade now.
'Over the past ten years, Khama Press reporters have been able to provide timely political, economic, social and cultural news to the public and their readers in a variety of frameworks and formats,' Fatima said, adding she was happy seeing the agency topped among other media outlets in Afghanistan.
Mohammad Tahir Zahir, Acting Minister of Information and Culture, congratulating the leadership and staff of Khaama Press on its recent achievement said generally media in Afghanistan has come a long way since its establishment during Amir Sher Ali Khan in 1860s.
'The significant changes we have witnessed from the past to the present is the emergence, growth and development of the media,' he said, adding more than 3,500 media outlets are registered at the ministry, most of which were short-lived and had disappeared while Khaama Press stood tall among the rest.
Meanwhile, Farkhunda Zahra Naderi, Senior Advisor to the National Reconciliation council, said the fact Khaama had become the number one media outlet in Afghanistan is due to its 'professionalism and balance', dubbing it a remarkable achievement in such a short time.

Najib Sharifi, President of Afghan Journalists Safety Committee, exclaimed it was gratifying that in a crisis-ridden and troubled society like Afghanistan, the media have made so much progress, particularly over the past two decades compared to neighboring countries.
The Khaama Press news agency, founded by Khushnood Nabizada as an active news agency in 2010, reports news worthy events and hot topics across the country. In addition, the agency analyzes ongoing political, economic and social affairs, which gives credibility to the role of media beyond a mere news coverage.
Khaama Press now ranks first among hundreds of other domestic outlets throughout the country, according to a recent report by the Alexa . Khaama covers events in two national languages, Dari and Pashto; and one international language, English.
