Auto industry in Germany concered over coronavirus job cuts

German national broadcaster ARD said on Monday that the president of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Hildegard Mueller, said that the auto sector in Germany is concerned about possible job cuts due to the spread of coronavirus.

The official said that "We worry about jobs and the future", saying that the crisis is "existential" and the country may suffer a recession in the current year.

The official said that the car manufacturers in Germany treat their workers with responsibility and that the auto sector is using all its available instruments to keep people in their jobs.

The official did not make any comments about the extent of the recession, but said that the decisive factor in the manner is how a "structured ramp-up of technologies and industries" can be made to"secure as many jobs there as possible."
