Kuwait to achieve sharp power demand jump


(MENAFN) Minister of oil, electricity and water of Kuwait Khaled Al-Fadhel revealed that the GCC nation is forecast to achieve by 2035 a boost in its electricity demand to stand at 36,285 megawatts.

Currently, electricity generation capacity in Kuwait hits 19,423 MW, as the Kuwaiti minister pointed out during an event set to introduce the ministry's strategy.

"The demand for water in 2035 is expected to reach 990 million gallons per day," the minister unveiled, noting that currently, water capacity reaches 683.8 million gallons.

Demand for energy witnessed a 40 percent surge since early 2012 to late 2018, Al-Fadhel further added, saying that energy and water demand is set to double.
