(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Gone in 62 seconds. A minute and two seconds is all it took for Pakistan ace Muhammad Waseem to have Conrado Tanamor of the Philippines on the canvas.
Their Super flyweight bout was the main event of a multi-cultural card at the Rotunda Rumble but the eight-round contest didn't last the distance, done and dusted in a jiffy in the very first round at the Caesars Palace.
The 32-year-old Waseem, who challenged for the world title last year, conjured three left-hand punches on Tanamor, the third one, a devastating one the Filipino's body, to floor the 29-year-old from Zambaoanga City.
Quetta-born Waseem, who floored IBF flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane in a world title fight but controversially lost by a unanimous decision, extended his record to 9-1 with this being the seventh KO of his career.
With due respect to Tanamor, the gulf in class was evident and this fight was nothing short of a mismatch. The co main event on nine-fight card too was another mismatch with Irishman Rohan Date seeing off India's Pradeep Kharera at the blink of an eye.
The Dubai resident came all guns blazing and pounded the Haryana-born Kharera, the latter unable to carry on after a slew of punches. Referee Shehzad Janab stopped the welterweight bout at one minute and eight seconds in the first of six rounds.
The 26-year-old Date increased his record to 10-0-1 with this being his eight KO.
The UAE's Majid Al Naqbi increased his unbeaten record to three with one KO after winning by a unanimous decision against Chuansheng Zhang, the lightweight fight going 40-36 in favour of the Emirati.
Another bout added to the list of mismatches with Englishman proving to be way too good for Thai fighter Worawatchai Boonjan. Referee Janab stopped the bantamweight at one minute and 38 seconds in the first round.
Earlier the night had begun with the undefeated Indian Karthik Kumar scoring a comfortable unanimous decision victory over Mohamed Pesa before Dubai-based fighter Anahit Aroyan controversially lost her unbeaten record with a split decision defeat to Jasmina Nad.
Up next, Kazakhstan's middleweight fighter Abay Tolesh (4-0, 3 KOs) continued his progress by knocking out Mfaume Mfaume in the fourth round.
A little later, Afghanistan's Hasibullah Ahmadi won by a split decision over Shidong Cai to swell his record to 7-0.
The organisers MTK Global and Round 10 Boxing Club announced that Rotunda Rumble 2 is scheduled for November 22 at the same venue.
