India- Tanushree slams Aamir for working with #MeToo accused Subhash Kapoor

(MENAFN- NewsBytes) Aamir Khan, who hadwalked outof #MeToo accused director Subhash Kapoor's Mogul last year, has decided to collaborate with him.

While this development came as a surprise to many, Tanushree Dutta, who has been the flag-bearer of #MeToo movement in Bollywood, is pretty upset with Aamir's decision.

Slamming the PK actor for this move, she wondered why the harassers are getting all sympathy.

Justifying his decision to hire Kapoor back for the film, Aamir said that he cannot take away the latter's right to earn a livelihood.

"I couldn't sleep at night because I used to feel that my actions have inadvertently caused a person, about whose guilt I have no idea, to lose his right to earn a livelihood," Mr. Perfectionist had said.

Really, what now?

Tanushree calls out Aamir for being insensitive towards victims

Taking a jibe at Aamir's statement, Tanushree said that the senior actor is being insensitive towards the complainant ( Geetika Tyagi ), who had accused Kapoor of sexual harassment.

"How come nobody in Bollywood has sleepless nights when a woman becomes a victim of abuse and is not able to work due to the trauma and ostracization," she said in aninteractionwith Mid-Day.

Question
"Why do only the creepy men of Bollywood get compassion?"

She also questioned the industry's double standards of supporting the "creepy men" and not the victims of abuse.

"If he (Aamir) has agreed to hire this guy [Kapoor], why not hire the woman (Geetika) who suffered the consequences of his actions? Why do only the creepy men of Bollywood get compassion? Let the girls also see some of that saintly do-goodery," Tanushree highlighted.

Compassion
It's not compassion, but convenience and ignorance, says Tanushree

Tanushree further said that Aamir's decision defeats the very purpose of #MeToo movement, which was "to heal the wounds of those who have no validation from court for the injustices they bore."

She emphasized that compassion cannot be selectively shown.

"If it's so selective as is being displayed by the Bollywood's bigwigs, then it's not compassion. It's convenience and ignorance," she said.

Counter
"Nobody bothered to ask me how I was doing"

Citing her sexual harassment incident, Tanushree asked why none of Bollywood's bigwigs had any compassion for her.

"Nobody bothered to ask me how I was doing when my livelihood was snatched away after the Horn Ok Pleassss harassment episode. No compassion for me, Aamir?" she wondered.

To recall, Tanushree hadaccusedNana Patekar of harassing her on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss (2008).

Statement
Aamir should have considered both sides of the story: Geetika

On the other hand, Geetika is also miffed with Aamir's decision.

Last year, when he and Kiran Rao walked out of Mogul in support of the #MeToo movement, she was impressed as "it gave hope to more women to speak up about their own stories."

However, now, she feels, "It would have been a fair game had they considered both sides of the story."
